Our March 2020 tour premieres a new crankie by Beth Reid on the exploitative history of tobacco—from indigenous medicinal herb to colonial cash-crop to slavery fodder to engineered addiction, now inducing deadly growth markets in Southeast Asia, even as it gradually draws down in the United States.
March shows feature visiting artist Balinese dalang (shadow master) Gusti Sudarta, who will also be on a parallel tour of traditional wayang (Indonesian shadow theater) with gamelan accompaniment. Watch for both!
